The Victorian Trials Championship was inaugurated in 1981 after the Victorian Rally Championship had evolved into a series of fully route charted special stage events. The events in the VTC included varying degrees of navigational difficulty as well as often challenging road conditions.
The VTC re-used the name of the VRC prior to 1972, which is potentially confusing. From 1988 it appears that the VTC was called the Victorian Trials Series, apparently to save CAMS fees. It appears that the last “full” VTS was conducted in 1995, although odd VTS events continue to appear in calendars up to 2001 but do not appear to comprise “series”.
